Fresh snow can make walking hard

This morning I woke up before the first alarm again. I still refused to get up before the first snooze. But then, as I woke up with stretches, I felt really good. It helped that I was in bed by ten last night and asleep shortly after. Every day, I can bend a little further and reach my toes with my legs closer together.

As I walked around the office this morning, I noticed another improvement. My body doesn't hurt nearly as much. My legs move much easier and I am starting to feel like I could even run a little. This is a huge improvement! For a long time now I've felt like my legs were leaden weights that hurt with every step. I've also endured a tightness in my right shoulder and up to my neck for a couple weeks. I noticed yesterday that it has receded considerably.

Something I think I should mention that is also helping is my muscle roller bar. I bought it a couple years ago and have at times regretted that decision when I come across it sitting unused in a closet. I regret it no more! It hurts a little as I roll it over my back and down my thighs or up and down my shins. But it certainly helps my circulation and stops any soreness or tightness from developing. I bought mine at Canadian Tire for about $20. Mine doesn't look exactly like the picture below, but close enough.

Although I can't say I'm excited about it, I know that I will get some good exercise this weekend. It snowed a couple inches last night and more is expected. I live on a corner lot with a bus stop on the sidewalk that we are responsible for. As a frequent bus rider in my not too distant past, I know how frustrating it is when homeowners don't clear their sidewalk. I do not want to be one of them. So, I will be shoveling at least a couple times this weekend.

And, on that note, it's time to get ready for today's walk. I'm kind of glad I didn't go for one yesterday, as it gave my blister a day to heal. I'll be checking my socks and boot liners carefully before heading out. The last thing I want now is to hurt myself in any way that could set me back.

Well, I set out with great intentions to explore the road I found on Wednesday in the opposite direction. However, with the new snow it was heavy going. A few people had trekked down the trail before me but there is a bit of a wind that blew snow across it again, making it treacherous. I decided pretty quickly that I should stick to the subdivision roads and trails to avoid having to break trail the whole way.

You'll see on the map that my distance walked today was 1786 m, shorter than my last few walks, but it took me half an hour to cover that distance. That's just about the same amount of time it's taken me to do my two-to-three kilometer walks. So, although I didn't go for a long distance, I'm still satisfied that I had a good walk.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will try to post on at least one day of it. If you're enjoying my blog, please subscribe. I just activated the gadget that allows it.
