New personal best!

I did manage to get to bed earlier last night, although still not as early as I wanted to. I had wanted to be in bed by ten but didn't make it there until 10:15. Not too bad. I woke up feeling rested and got up after only one snooze. That was a good night! Lately, with night sweats from menopause, those have become far more rare. Unfortunately, my partner did not have as good a night. He's a light sleeper and with the weight gain I've started snoring. I have tried different sleeping positions to try and mitigate it, but without success. Yet another reason for me to work on getting healthier.

Since I got up early I did some stretching, but I did not manage to drink any water. Oh well, I'll work on that after lunch. Speaking of lunch, there's sunshine outside! I'm grateful that the temperature has stayed above -10, and there doesn't appear to be a wind either. I am really looking forward to getting out for my walk today.

I have a new personal best! Today's walk was 2906 m!! That's just 100 m shy of 3 kilometers. Close to the end, I felt like I had a pokey in my right foot and I had to balance while I took my boot off. I did have a hair that had balled up with some of the fluff and I got rid of that, but my foot still pained the last half kilometer. When I got back to the office I checked my sock and foot and discovered I had a small blister in the ball of my foot. But besides that, I feel good.

My walk was long enough that I had to make two maps of it so I could include the area covered in a picture. The first picture shows where I went, but I had to zoom out to a point where it didn't show the distance. The second map is in range to show the distance, but the area is cut off. I'm pretty excited at my progress.

In fact, while I was out walking I got to thinking that I should be in good enough shape to start biking to work by May, when the ice and snow have disappeared again. My office is about eight kilometres from home, with only one fairly big hill. Now, there's something to look forward to.

The picture above is where I walked today. I am really loving exploring the trails near me. I came across a road in an unfamiliar place, so I followed it out and ended up on the road to the Yukon University and the Arts Centre. My next discovery was the trail just down where the two roads met up. Below, you'll see the picture with the distance I walked today.

Hope you all are enjoying this little blog and it is inspiring you. If it's not, that's ok. I can totally relate. Last summer when my friends were all out walking, I just wasn't in a good enough head space to get out there too. On top of that, I felt fatigued and my joints were so achy, even when I did get out for a short walk I didn't enjoy it.  In fact, hearing about their exercising made me feel even worse. So I get it. I'm just glad that I'm finally in a good place mentally. My joints are still achy, but I've started taking a generic Alleve after the walks. That helps a lot.

Until next time...
