Plodding along
This morning's stretch session lasted a little longer and included a couple new positions. It's only been three days of getting up earlier but already I can feel a difference. My arms and shoulders didn't hurt as much, and bending over to stretch my hamstrings and touch my toes was a little easier. I did drink some water, but by no means made it through the whole glass. As a compromise, I only brought one coffee to work with me instead of the usual togo cup and thermos.
I am not quite as excited about my walk this morning as I have been the last few days, but am still not dreading it. Something I will be checking carefully while getting ready is for any kind of lump in my boot liners. I have classic-style Sorels for winter boots and I regularly wear them the liners as slippers here in the office, leaving the outer rubber shell under my desk. Yesterday, just as I was finishing my walk I noticed a sore spot on the ball of my foot. When I returned to the office and removed the outer shells, I found that there was a small nub of fluff in the bottom of my liner where my foot was hurting. It wasn't a substantial lump and I removed it easily, but I will definitely be checking for anything similar before heading out today.
Well, I did it. At 1479 m, it was just under one and a half km, but had some slight inclines. As I began my walk I encountered a small pack of four dogs out walking with their human as their trail joined mine. They happily surrounded and greeted me as the woman caught up and I petted them as she and I chatted a moment before she easily passed me. I continued plodding along the path alone, going a way I have never been before.
There is an old gravel pit that has been reclaimed and is now criss-crossed with cross-country and walking tails and has a wonderful area for tobogganing. I really enjoyed walking through this area instead of the nearby neighbourhood. I don't like to take the same route while walking and feel lucky that I have so many different choices.
Short and sweet post today. Until next time...
